My husband works away from home frequently, and I miss him so!  We live in a quaint fishing village in Wales with its very own ancient castle and I wrote this late one cold winter's Friday night!  Hope you like it!!

Cushions by the Fire

Oyster castle staring at me from my window sill,

A dozen spots light up her stonework,  turrets stand so still.

The Friday night midnight rain sounds like ancient celts whisp’rin your name,

I’m counting the moon’s sweet cycle, darlin’, till you come home again.

And we’ll lie on the cushions by the fire,

You’ll wrap your arms around me,

Drink a fine red wine, maybe Rioja,

You’ll tell me that you love me,

And I’m missing you,

And our cushions by the fire,

Our cushions by the fire.

Our little boys miss their daddy when you work away,

No daddy at the school gate smiling after their long old day,

No kissing their new cut better, and tucking them in goodnight,

And I miss you more then ever darlin’, I wish you were by my side.

And we’ll lie on the cushions by the fire,

You’ll wrap your arms around me,

We’ll drink a fine red wine, maybe Rioja,

You’ll tell me that you love me,

And I’m missing you,

And our cushions by the fire,

Our cushions by the fire.

Fisherman’s cottages, ‘n  pretty ocean boats,

Quaint ice-cream parlours, they don’t hold their charm no more

And though life goes on without you,

I wish you worked closer to home.

And then every night with you, yeah every night with you

We’ll lie on the cushions by the fire,

You’ll wrap your arms around me,

We’ll drink a fine red wine, maybe Rioja,

You’ll tell me that you love me,

And I’m missing you,

And our cushions by the fire,

Our cushions by the fire.

I’m missing you,

And our cushions by the fire,

Our cushions by the fire.
